1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of beyondafrica.org (the "Site") and the BeyondAfrica Conference 2026 event (the "Conference"), including the pitch competition, networking sessions, dinners, and other experiences associated with the Conference. By using the Site, registering for the Conference, or attending in person, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy and Cookies Policy. If you do not agree, you should not use the Site or register for the Conference.

2. About us

The Site and Conference are operated by Blueworkforce Inc., a Delaware corporation doing business as Bluework.io ("Bluework," "BeyondAfrica," "we," "us," or "our"), with offices at [business mailing address]. BeyondAfrica is a program of Bluework.io. You can reach us at hello@beyondafrica.org.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to register for, purchase tickets to, or attend the Conference. By using the Site or registering for the Conference you represent that you meet this requirement and that any information you provide is true and current. We may decline registration or revoke access at our discretion, including where attendance would conflict with applicable laws or our Code of Conduct.

4. Tickets, refunds, and cancellations

Tickets to the Conference are sold and fulfilled by Eventbrite, our third-party ticketing partner. Your purchase is also subject to Eventbrite's own terms and refund policies, which apply in addition to these Terms. We do not store payment card information on our servers.

  • Refunds. Unless required by law, all ticket sales are final. We may, in our sole discretion, offer refunds, transfers, or credit to future events if circumstances warrant.
  • Cancellation or change of event. We reserve the right to change the date, location, format (including making any portion virtual), agenda, or speakers. In the unlikely event we cancel the Conference, our maximum obligation is to refund the face value of your ticket; we are not responsible for travel, lodging, or other out-of-pocket costs.
  • Resale. Tickets are non-transferable for resale at a premium. We may invalidate tickets sold through unauthorized channels.
  • VIP and Pitch Competition. VIP, dinner, and pitch finalist allocations are limited and may require separate application and acceptance, in addition to the ticket purchase.

5. Code of Conduct

The Conference is a professional environment. We have a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, intimidation, discrimination, or any conduct that undermines the safety or dignity of attendees, speakers, staff, partners, or vendors — on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age, religion, national origin, or any other protected characteristic.

We may remove anyone from the Site or the Conference (without refund) for: harassing, threatening, or abusive behavior; unauthorized recording or photography; impairment that endangers others; misrepresenting your identity or affiliation; or any other conduct we reasonably determine to be incompatible with the Conference's values.

To report an incident, email conduct@beyondafrica.org or speak to a staff member on-site. Reports are handled confidentially.

6. Pitch Competition rules

The BeyondAfrica Pitch Competition (the "Competition") is open to founders meeting the eligibility criteria published on the Pitch Competition page, including African heritage of at least one founder, having raised less than $5,000,000 in total funding, and operating in one of the published focus areas.

The winner receives a $10,000 investment from Beyond Africa Fund ("BAF") on standard market terms (such as a SAFE or equity instrument), which will be shared with finalists during a brief diligence period prior to the live pitch. The investment is conditional on satisfactory completion of customary diligence and execution of definitive investment documents. The judges' decisions are final and not subject to appeal.

Submitting an application does not create an offer to invest, employment, agency, or fiduciary relationship between you and BeyondAfrica or BAF. Specific Competition rules, eligibility, deadlines, and finalist procedures are incorporated into these Terms by reference and may be updated from time to time on the Site.

7. Content you submit

When you submit a pitch application, video, deck, or other materials ("Your Content"), you retain ownership. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, store, copy, and display Your Content solely for the purpose of evaluating your application, administering the Competition, communicating with you, and — for finalists — promoting the Competition (for example, in a recap reel or announcement).

You represent that Your Content does not infringe any third party's rights, contains no confidential information of any third party that you are not authorized to share, and is accurate to the best of your knowledge. We will not share confidential numbers or trade secrets publicly without your explicit, separate consent.

8. Our content and trademarks

The Site, the Conference branding, the "BeyondAfrica" name and logo, and all related text, graphics, and design are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from any of this material without our prior written consent, except as permitted by these Terms or by applicable fair-use law.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Site to engage in fraud, phishing, spam, or other unlawful activity.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site, our systems, or any user's data.
  • Interfere with the Site's normal operation, including by submitting malicious code, denial-of-service attempts, or excessive automated requests.
  • Use scraping, crawling, or other automated means to collect information from the Site without our written permission.
  • Misrepresent your identity, affiliation, or stage of company.
  • Use the Site or attendance to harvest contact details for unsolicited commercial purposes.

10. Third-party services and links

The Site links to or relies on third-party services including Eventbrite (tickets), Google (Forms, Fonts), and Vercel (hosting). Their use of your data is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, which we encourage you to review. We are not responsible for the content, availability, or practices of third-party sites.

11. Disclaimers

The Site and the Conference are provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, and uninterrupted access. We do not warrant that the Site will be error-free, that any specific attendee, speaker, investor, or outcome will be present at the Conference, or that the Conference will achieve any particular result for your career or company.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will we, our affiliates, officers, employees, agents, or partners be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill, data, or other intangible losses, arising out of or related to your use of the Site or attendance at the Conference. Our total cumulative liability for all claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Conference will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Conference in the twelve months prior to the claim, or (b) US $100.

13. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless BeyondAfrica, our affiliates, and our respective officers, employees, agents, partners, and licensors from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your breach of these Terms, your violation of any law, or Your Content.

14. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site, cancel your registration, or remove you from the Conference at any time if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms or applicable law. On termination, sections that by their nature should survive — including content licenses, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law — will continue to apply.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects when the most recent change was made. Material changes will be flagged via the Site or by email to registered attendees, where appropriate. Continued use of the Site or attendance at the Conference after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The exclusive jurisdiction and venue for any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Conference will be the state and federal courts located in Travis County, Texas, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.

17. General

These Terms — together with our Privacy Policy, Cookies Policy, any Competition rules, and the policies of any third-party services used to participate (such as Eventbrite) — constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Site and the Conference, and supersede any prior agreements on the same subject. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent; we may assign them without restriction.

18. Contact
